Unit Conversion

Early in the project, the user group collaborated closely with C/V Architects to evaluate the feasibility of converting 18 postpartum patient beds into medical-surgical beds. Following engagement with the Texas Health and Human Services Architectural Review Unit, the team developed a design that fully complies with state guidelines while addressing the hospital’s patient bed needs and maintaining the highest standards for infant safety and security.The converted unit was strategically separated from the Mother and Baby Unit by new controlled-access doors. This separation ensures efficient support functions and smooth circulation for both units.
